It is the first Monday of March, which means we are recognizing another valued member of our team during #MeetUsMonthly.
Firefighter Justin Jones is approaching his two-year mark with the Clayton Fire Department, and he emphasizes his favorite part of the job is being able to serve residents.
“It’s a great community. They support the fire department.”
With more than a decade of experience in fire service and emergency medical service (EMS) across eastern North Carolina, Jones reflects on his start in Wayne County as a volunteer. After working his way through the ranks, he moves back to Johnson County in 2019 where he was able to complete his training and eventually get a position in the Town of Clayton.
For those who are interested in pursuing a similar career path, Jones has one piece of advice to share:
“Work hard, stay focused, and always remember why we’re here.”
When he’s not working, Jones loves spending time with his kids and playing with his dogs. He also slyly mentions a unique hobby – bullfighting. It’s a great conversation starter and something Jones hopes to spend more time doing in the future.
