Meet Us Monthly: Michael Duffy

Home Posted on February 05, 2024

It is the first Monday of February, which means we are recognizing another valued member of our team during #MeetUsMonthly.

Please join us in welcoming Firefighter Michael Duffy, who is a newcomer within the Clayton Fire Department. He is recognizing four months on the job after moving to North Carolina in May 2023 and accepting his current role in October 2023.

Originally from Connecticut, Duffy says his interest in fire service started in high school with an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class and led him to join the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department. He also has experience doing confined space rescues at power plants through a private company, which he gained amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Duffy does not have family in fire service, he is quick to point out comradery within the department and references “…the brotherhood that you have with all of the guys who work here, being able to come out – help the community.”

Admitting to still learning the ropes around the Town of Clayton, Duffy shares his excitement about the fire department’s future. “There is a really good group of guys here across all three shifts. Everyone here is super knowledgeable about the job and what they do. The town’s in good hands with the fire department.”

It seems Duffy still enjoys spending time in the cold. When he’s not on duty, you can find him hunting, playing hockey, or ice skating whenever he can.
