The North Carolina Symphony’s Music Discovery program is geared for preschool and elementary-age children and their families. The 30-minute program features a NC Symphony musician reading a book about music, talking about their instrument and how other instruments make their sounds – plus more surprises!

This program, funded by PNC Grow Up Great, is geared for preschool and elementary-age children and their families. The 30-minute program features a NC Symphony musician reading a book about music, talking about their instrument and how other instruments make their sounds – plus more surprises!

This event is presented in conjunction with Summer Reading Program (SRP) 2023. SRP is a library program that encourages all ages to continue to improve their reading skills during the months when school is not in session. This summer’s theme is All Together Now! Join us for reading challenges and programs this summer!

- The library reserves the right to use video or photographs taken of program participants for internal use, publication, use in Library promotional outlets, and evaluation purposes. In each program, staff will provide participants an opportunity to opt out of photographs.
- Programs may be canceled due to inclement weather, technical difficulties, or the absence of the presenter. Canceled programs are not necessarily rescheduled.
- Most Summer Reading Program Events are "first-come first-served".
- When space limits attendance capacity, "Drop-In" tokens will be made available 30 minutes prior to event start time. If the bucket of "Drop-In" tokens is empty, the program is at capacity.
- Some programs (indicated by RR on our program calendars) Require Registration to allow for planning purposes or materials limitations. In some cases, the nature and success of a program may limit attendance. Registration for these programs can be found on Eventbrite.
