Square to Square Independence Day Street Festival
The Town of Clayton and the Downtown Development Association are excited to host the 2nd Annual Square-to-Square Independence Day Street Festival, presented by Matthews Motors.
The festival will take place in Downtown Clayton on Saturday, July 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Downtown Clayton will be filled with FREE games, activities, food, and music from Town Square to Horne Square! You can look forward to NEW events and the return of last year’s most popular attractions.
What is new at Square-to-Square this year?
FOAM PARTY:
Ragland Productions is back and ready for MORE fun! You do not want to miss the Foam Party from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Town Square.
MONSTER MURAL:
Express your creativity and add your artistic touch to the Monster Mural at Main Street near Church St. The mural features some of Clayton’s landmark people, places, and things! Markers for coloring will be available at the mural.
SPRAY DOWN:
End your Square-to-Square celebrations with a SPLASH! Join the Clayton Fire Department at 1:45 p.m. at the corner of Church St. and Main St. for a Spray Down!
STORYTIME WITH THE LIBRARY
Throughout the day, Hocutt Ellington Memorial Library will be hosting Storytime. Bring your little one to the stage at Church St. & Main St. at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. to hear a brief, entertaining story from one of our librarians.
At 10:30 a.m. Clayton Police Department will be performing a K9 Unit demonstration. The demonstration is also happening on the stage at Church St. & Main St.
TIE-DYE T-SHIRT STATION
The Clayton Fire Fighter Association is hosting a Tie-Dye T-Shirt Station. They will be selling youth-sized t-shirts for $10, and volunteers will help your child tie-dye their t-shirt. The station will be on Church Street and available until supplies run out.
What is returning to Square-to-Square this year?
BIKE PARADE:
The festival will kick off with a bike parade led by Uncle Sam Stilt Walker at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are welcome, and registration is not required. Participants will decorate their bike, scooter, or wagon with 4th of July flair and meet at Horne Square. The parade will conclude under an extravagant balloon arch in Town Square.
This year, Clayton Police Department is joining in on the fun! Keep an eye on their social media pages for more upcoming Bike Parade announcements!

HOT DOG EATING CONTEST:
Last year, the Hot Dog Eating Contest was a tremendous success, so we are bringing it back for round two! Get your competitive spirit and appetite ready for the challenge!
The contest will be at noon on the stage at Church St. and Main St. There will be two age groups: 13 - 17 and 18+. Everyone is welcome to participate. Registration closes on June 28. There will be NO day of registration.
Winners of the Hot Dog Eating Contest will receive an awesome trophy and two tickets to an upcoming show of their choice at The Clayton Center.

Aside from hotdogs, there will be an abundance of dining options at the event for you to enjoy! There will be FREE watermelon slices at 10:30 a.m. near Horne Square. The Clayton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring FREE snow cones at 10:30 a.m. near Horne Square. There will also be multiple food trucks on-site! Square-to-Square Food Trucks:

CLAYTON FARM AND COMMUNITY MARKET:
The Clayton Farm and Community Market will be set up at Horne Square from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by to shop locally and support sustainability, healthy living, and community.
FUN AND GAMES:
Ragland Productions is bringing back many of its popular attractions, including the trackless train, rock climbing wall, inflatable maze, and waterslides!
The Poetry Fox will be back this year with more epic rhymes! He will be writing custom, on-the-spot poems on his vintage typewriter for anyone who stops by. Give him a word, and he will give you a poem.
Clayton Parks and Recreation will also have activities and games set up at Main Street near the Barbour St. intersection. You can look forward to Football Toss, Cornhole, Jenga, Connect 4, Bubbles, and more!
The festivities will also include MULTIPLE face painters and a balloon twister.
There will be a professional Giant Bubble Artist near Clayton Chamber of Commerce.
Generation Church will be sponsoring water slides ALL DAY in Town Square! Be sure to bring sunscreen, a swimsuit, and a change of clothes.
This festival truly has something for everyone! We hope you will join us at the celebrations.
