Computers & Research

The library has seven computers for public use with high-speed internet access and Microsoft Office programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and other projects. Printing is available for $0.20 per page in black and white only. Library staff can help you locate a computer with the specific resources you need. Scanning to a flash drive is currently not available but will be available soon.

Sign up for a computer with your library card. We offer free Wi-Fi (wireless Internet access) if you have your own internet-ready devices. You will see the TOC_LIBRARY and TOC_PUBLIC networks and access is granted after agreeing to the Internet Usage Policy.

NC LIVE

This website is a consortium of North Carolina libraries, providing digital content and services to public and academic libraries state wide.

Founded in 1997 by representatives from the NC Community Colleges, the NC Independent Colleges and Universities, the NC Public Library Directors Association, the University of North Carolina, and the State Library of North Carolina, NC LIVE serves 201 member libraries across North Carolina and is dedicated to helping member libraries support education, enhance statewide economic development, and improve the quality of life of their communities.

Designed for at-home use, NC LIVE eBooks, magazines, newspapers, journals, media, and other online materials are available from any Internet connection via library websites, and through NCLive.org.

NC LIVE offers free electronic access to resources for all ages on topics ranging from careers, business, and investing, to auto repair, health, history, and genealogy. NC LIVE resources are available to all North Carolinians through their local public, community college, or academic library. Contact your local library for free access to NC LIVE resources. Available to users is a Live Chat function to help you find the resource and information that you need.

When prompted for a login:

  • Choose: Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library/Clayton
  • Enter: your library card number (no spaces) and PIN (last 4-digits of your phone number)

NC Works Online

NC Works Online is a one-stop online resource for job seekers and employers in our great state. Job seekers can search for jobs, create resumes, and find education and training. Employers can find candidates, post jobs, and search labor market information. You can either go online to do your search from home - night or day - or you can visit their location right here in Clayton at 8998 U.S. Business Highway 70 West! They are in the Southern Village strip mall. They provide free services like phone, fax, copy machine, computers, internet access and more!
